Dear ILGA members and friends,
we are ready to begin the journey towards the 2019 ILGA World Conference in Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington, Aotearoa / New Zealand, where our global family will celebrate its first 40 years together!
Hosted by our member organisations Intersex Trust Aotearoa New Zealand, Tīwhanawhana Trust, and Rainbow Youth, the event will take place from March 18-22, 2019 under the banner Celebrating the past to liberate the future: we will look at our history and shape our years ahead, as members decide on our strategic direction for the next four years.
Starting today, you can:
1. apply for a scholarship to attend the conference; and
2. submit proposals for sessions at the conference.
The deadline for both of these is Saturday 18 August 2018.
At this time we are only accepting applications for scholarships and proposals for sessions. Registrations for participants who will pay their own way will be open from 18 September 2018.

Scholarships are offered to provide assistance to people who would otherwise be unable to attend the ILGA World Conference for financial reasons. It is an important way to make sure that the LGBTI world is represented at the conference in all our diversity.
Priority will be given to activists from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands, although a limited number of scholarships will be allocated also to activists from Europe, North America, Australia and Aotearoa / New Zealand.
The scholarship application must be submitted on or before Saturday 18 August 2018. Successful applicants will be notified by 20 September 2018.

Note that if you are representing an organisation, you will need to submit a letter from your organisation supporting your application.
This is the first ILGA World Conference in Oceania – an historic moment and a moment to learn from and focus on SOGIESC issues in this region. It also means that travel costs will likely be high for people coming outside of the Asia and Pacific region. Therefore, any individual or organisation that is interested to support the participation of scholars is encouraged to contact us at development@ilga.org or make a donation here.
SESSION PROPOSALS

Panel discussions, workshops and other discussion spaces are a fundamental part of the world conferences. Experiences, practices and knowledge will be shared to help the global LGBTI movement advance equality and freedom for all human beings, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, and sex characteristics.
Sessions can take different formats: panel discussions, roundtable discussions, workshops, rainbow talks (see an example from 2016 here), receptions, exhibitions, films…
As we look back over the last 40 years, the conference theme is: Celebrating the past to liberate the future. ILGA has also identified some key areas that we hope sessions will focus on: education; health; legal reforms; faith and/or religion; culture; sports; fundraising.
We accept session proposals from both organisations and individuals. LGBTI organisations and other partners are strongly encouraged to partner with one another to pool knowledge and expertise.

All submissions must be submitted on or before 18 August 2018. If your proposal is accepted, you will be notified by September 20.
Note that your proposal being accepted does not mean that your or other presenters will receive financial support from ILGA to attend. You should look for funding to support your participation. You and other presenters who would like to attend can also apply for an ILGA scholarship if you do not have funds.

Se ofrecen becas para brindar asistencia a personas que de otra manera no podrían asistir a la Conferencia Mundial de ILGA por razones financieras. Es una forma importante de garantizar que el mundo LGBTI esté representado en la conferencia en toda nuestra diversidad.
Se dará prioridad a les activistas de África, Asia, América Latina y el Caribe y las Islas del Pacífico, aunque se asignará un número limitado de becas también a activistas de Europa, América del Norte, Australia y Aotearoa / Nueva Zelanda.

Los paneles de discusión, talleres y otros espacios de discusión son una parte fundamental de las conferencias mundiales. Se compartirán experiencias, prácticas y conocimiento para ayudar al movimiento global LGBTI a promover la igualdad y la libertad para todos los seres humanos, independientemente de su orientación sexual, identidad de género y expresión de género, y características sexuales.
Las sesiones pueden tomar diferentes formatos: paneles de discusión, mesas redondas, talleres, charlas arco iris (ver un ejemplo de 2016 aquí), recepciones, exposiciones, películas...
Al mirar hacia atrás en los últimos 40 años, el tema de la conferencia es: Celebrar el pasado para liberar el futuro. ILGA también ha identificado algunas áreas clave en las que esperamos que las sesiones se centren: educación; salud; reformas legales; fe y / o religión; cultura; deportes; recaudación de fondos.
Aceptamos propuestas de sesiones de organizaciones e individuos. Se recomienda encarecidamente a las organizaciones LGBTI y otros socios que se asocien entre sí para reunir conocimientos y experiencia.

Ten en cuenta que, si tu propuesta será aceptada, no significa que tu presentadore u otres deberán recibir apoyo financiero de ILGA para asistir. Tendrás que buscar fondos para respaldar tu participación. Tu y otres presentadores a les que le gustaría asistir también pueden solicitar una beca de ILGA si no tienen fondos.
